Making Candles In Simple Steps

DIY projects are a popular alternative for producing attractive and distinctive home décor if you’re interested in home design. However, while DIY projects are rewarding, it may be difficult to find one that is both enjoyable and straightforward.

Here comes the candle. They’re a crafter’s favourite for a reason: they’re endlessly adaptable, classically gorgeous, and easy to create. Aussie Candle Supplies will show you how to make a scented candle at home the simple way in the video below! Make one for your Valentine this year for a gift they’ll remember long after February has passed.

List of supplies:

  • One box of soy wax for manufacturing candles
  • 1 pound of big candle wicks
  • One fragrance oil bottle
  • 1 spatula
  • One heat-resistant container
  • A single double boiler
  • 1 thermometer
  • 1 set of chopsticks or pencils

Step 1: Weigh The Wax

You may also use newspaper or paper towels to cover the area. Remove everything that you do not want wax on.

Determine how much wax is required to fill your container, then double it. That is the amount of wax you will need to melt.

Step 2: Melt The Wax

Pour the wax into the double boiler and heat for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly.

Step 3: Include Aroma Oils.

When the candle wax has melted, add your aroma oils. Follow the directions on your wax packaging to determine how much to apply. Pour it into the melted wax and mix it for a few seconds. While this is an optional step, we highly recommend it for a wonderful flowery scent.

Step 4: Secure The Wick

Before you pour in the wax, connect the wick to the bottom of the container. Allow the wax to solidify for five minutes. You may also use superglue.

Step 5: Pour The Wax

When the thermometer registers 140 degrees, it’s time to start pouring.

Then, gradually pour the wax into the container. Hold the wick in place without pulling on it. Keep a tiny amount of wax in the boiler for subsequently topping up your candle.

Step 6: Attach The Wick

To keep your wick from swaying in the melty wax, fix it in place. Place two chopsticks across the top of the container. Sandwich the wick between the two to keep it centred as the wax solidifies. Allow the wax to cure at room temperature for four hours.

Step 7: Pour In Additional Wax

If your candle solidified and developed an unattractive top (think cracks or holes), just reheat and add the leftover wax. Allow hardening.

Step 8: Remove The Wick.

The wick of your candle should be less than half an inch long. Trim the wick if the candle flickers or has a large flame when lighted.

Three Ingenious Candle Variations

Option 1: Floral Candles

Apply dried petals from your favourite bouquet on the container’s side with a paintbrush and some of the wax. This should be done before you pour the wax into the container in step five. Mix different types of petals and leaves for a more vibrant candle. You may also apply a fragrance oil that complements the flower petals.

Option 2: Decorative Candles

During step two, mix chopped crayons into your melted wax. Each candle will require 12 to 15 crayons. To make the most beautiful hue, use crayons from the same colour family!

Option 3: Candles Buried With Treasure

Before you pour the wax in step five, find a small, inexpensive treasure (such as a small toy, ring, or necklace) and place it in the container. To bury the treasure, pour wax on top. You can use gel wax instead if you want to see the treasure inside the candle.
